civil partnership card

a friend recently asked me to make a card for a civil partnership, which are quite difficult to find in shops!!  he had seen my earlier cards and asked for something similar in black and silver:[kanban toppers and card stock]

i added the names of the partners using tim holtz tattered banners and upon a time strip dies / lettering, highlighting with silver rub-on, and silver glitter hearts cut from mini hearts mover/shaper, elegant flourishes in black and silver, overlayed as a 'shadow'and ebossed with swirls. .... i had to grunge it a little!! c,")

birthday card to myself!

Well I hit 54 today!!
AAAARRRGGGHHH!!

So I made myself this card .... lol

I used Paper Artsy crackle paint on the umbrella man and clock ... I just got these paints to try as I have seen lots of folk using them with great results.   They really are nice paints!  More have been ordered lol!
The background is kraft glassine with cogs embossed on it and then scratched and dabbed with distress stains white and black and a dusting of cosmic shimmer dark bronze [my favourite colour ever!]
I layered it with kraft card and kraft corrugated card ... I have been using this look a lot on cards recently - it looks quite chic! c,")
The label has the recently published 'faux porcelain' look with stamped words [intentionally haphazard!] using single letter stamps i found! [sorry i cant find the blog i read how to do this! doh!]

Next is a couple of works in progress ....

These are just trying out 2 of Tim's new stamps I recently bought online [from SSStamp in USA!]
The Xmas one is simply stamped using different distress pads on separate ares, then distress edged and finally finished with perfect pearl mist [pearl]. I did another one which i covered in clear embossing powder which looks great!  I'm going to embellish this a lot more!

The halloween one is just a test piece embossed with ranger black sparkle embossing powder, which looks way better in daylight!

I'm hoping to find time to get inky a lot more from now ... I have been very negligent!! .... I've been hitting the gym a lot recently and getting my health back on track and its been taking too much ink-time!! lol

Yes - this is me!!

Thanks for reading xx

very sad day

I am sorry to announce the passing of my beloved Vagabond!!
He died peacefully, with no sign of previous problems.

I am not sure what happened - he just stopped working!!
But the lovely shop I bought it from is arranging for a replacement already!!

Also this week - my phone gave up on me too - I almost lost all my contacts but managed to retrieve them at the last minute!!  I hope to be joining the world of iPhone in the next few months!! Yaaay!

I have been too busy for creativity recently, but I have just got some of HRH T!m's brand new stamps incl. the xmas ones so I will make a start on xmas cards soon!!  Taking a week off for my birthday in 2 weeks so hope I can get very messy then!!

London

While reading other blogs recently I saw people using Tim's technique for a 'rusty' background using clear embossing powder.
I needed a card to send to a friend [in London] and thought i would use this technique for the background in this make using my new Artistic Outpost stamp set!  I dont often buy stamps that are not Holtz, but this set looks like it will be very useful; especially with the Olympics just around the corner!! lol!
I hung the mini tag [cut with Alterations tiny tags die] on a hitch fastener, so it could be removed and kept in a wallet or something, with a message on the back.
The crown i embossed in antique gold and sprinkled some cosmic shimmer gold glitter in it when still hot - i do like cosmic shimmer stuff - especially the dark bronze powder which is one of the best colours i have seen.
I have started to use corrugated card quite a bit too recently - i love dimension and texture.

keep calm

i had a bit of a day today ......
last night when doing my online banking i discovered i had lost my blimmin wallet!!
after cancelling my card and worrying all night, i went and reported it lost at the police station today and also asked at all the shops i had been in ... no luck.
THEN when i got home this evening i pasted a little sign at the main door of our flats --- just on the off-chance that someone had found it ....
WOULD YOU BELIEVE 10 minutes later a lovely neighbour knocked and delivered my wallet complete with cash!! I had dropped it in the stairway of our flats!!!!!!!

That is what i call luck!!!

To express my gratitude i made them this little offering [they are a bit goth/alternative with a gorgeous baby that wears skull and crossbones already!! love it!] .... oh and i gave them the cash from my wallet as i had resigned myself to losing it anyway!!
