jubilee from Sizzix

here are 3 cards i made for the diamond jubilee

the designs and layouts were from a download on the sizzix website here

the top card i changed slightly and added a bit of frantage bling to the crown -- as i am addicted to frantage atm!! and some embossing folder highlights
the centre card i made up using some of the website elements
the lower card is as the website directions but i used plain card on the base and not felt.
i photograped them in a hurry this morning so i could get them to my charity's shop asap as i forgot the jubilubee is this weekend!!

frantaged butterflies

2 cards, quite similar

i am still playing obsessively with the frantage powders
the butterflies were stamped onto embossed card with a 'blank' made by the diffusing plates then coloured with spring inks and splattered with some biscotti pearl.  then i stamped the same butterfly image onto vellum with colours of archival and cut them out and stapled them into place on top of the stamped images.
i edged both cards with frantage first, then layered them onto corrugated card then  added tons more frantage and glitters and fragments.   i bought a wee chef's blowtorch [used for making creme brulees etc] to heat the powders from above without them blowing everywhere,, because the layers are too thick to heat from underneath.   this works a TREAT!!!  although i did singe a butterfly's wings a little but i quite liked it so its been left!

frantage

i have been playing with the new FRANTAGE embossing powders and decorative bits!
i really love embossing powder and this range has great colours and some lovely chunky textures.  adding the glitters and mica flakes gives an amazing 'shabby' look.
i think this is gonna be really big [well for me anyway!]

i used tim's bookcover embossing folders and a couple of his stamps with the new spring inks then went wild with the embossing powders!!  i need some more practice to improve my technique, but these two test pieces came out well enough so i mounted them to use as cards.

12 tags of 2012 -may

my version of tim's instructional for his tag for may
i have made a couple more that i will make into cards for my charity

***
i will notify this again nearer the time, but the hospice that i make my charity cards for - the sussex beacon - have invited me to do a 'make and take' style stall at their garden open day in june, to help raise funds.  i am very honoured and excited to do this for them and i have been gathering supplies and goodies to use!

take flight

i've been retying to finish this card for a few days .... stuff kept getting in the way!

background is paperartsy papers with an inked  stencil of the weathered clock [which i made from blank stencil]
tag is finished witha layer of beeswax
cogs are spellbinders and stash bought on ebay
i coloured the ballon with portfolio pastels - also from paperartsy.
the cogs and number plaque are cut from this cool sandable card i bought from qvc!

embossing diffuser

just a test/sample piece
i woke in the night realising that the new embossing diffusers could be used to add TWO different embossed textures to a piece, so i bashed this out to test it using the honeycomb and stripes folders .. and it worked!
just run your first piece through then replace the shape with the corresponding plate then run through with your other chosen folder.  i taped the smaller shape in place.

lots of possibilities with this i think!

enjoy your bank holiday weekend - its gonna be a wet one!
