12 tags day 12 -- FINALLY!!

well its very overdue but here is my version of tim's tags for day 12

due to delays with deliveries, i only received the music tissue last night!!  i waited for a week for my parcel of goodies!!  no matter, it arrived and i finally constructed my tag last night.
this has to be the best one of all 12 ... some great techniques and very stylish and very 'tim'.

i have enjoyed the 12 tags beyond description .... thank you all so much for your kind comments, especially to tim who took the time to leave a personal message -- i am honoured and flattered.

let us all keep this christmas spirit year-round and spread happiness and love to all

have a cool yule everyone!!! xx

12 tags day 11

the penultimate tag for 2011!
i only made this 1 tag today - no extras or cards!

i love shrink plastic ... must admit i have had a meltpot and loads of utee etc for ages [a bargain find second hand on ebay] and rarely used it.  i have never shrank my plastic in it before either! lol! i love the effect!!  i think this will be used more often now!!
i have to be honest and say i'm not over enthusiastic about this tag!

12 tags day 9

i've been rushing about doing stuff today so only just got these finished!

my version of tim's tag for day 9 -- plus 2 cards!

the background stamp he used is difficult to trace in the uk i think - i have searched on google for it this morning with no luck!  so i used my new ink-its letterpress plate by sizzix called Damask.  when using distress inks on it I found it works better with a layer of versamark before using the DI.
i used a little silver dabber over the black on the candlestick too

this is one of my favourites so far .... very christmassy, simple, elegant and a great technique learned!

12 tags day 8

i love this technique .... i am sooo into steampunk!
not your typical christmas card but hey!!
this still needs some ribbon on the cogs.

i dont have any number plaques [on order!] so i just made my own from grunge covered in tissue, white alco ink and black paint dabber on edges, using numbers from the alpha parts.

i have also made 2 more cut-down tags that i will mount as cards as usual!:

i just used the 25 from the noel die, painted black with glossy accents on these and i ran out of letters so added 'xmas' to one card

12 tags day 7

my version of tim's tag for day 7, made into 2 cards

12 tags day 6

this is my version of tim's tag for day 6, again made into cards.
....not my favourites, but a cool technique which i used on the 'offcuts' from my foil sheets;

http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/12/12-tags-of-christmastag-6.html

[i'm behind now -- need to get on with tag 7, but i have made similar cards to it already!]

12 tags day 5 -- 2 posts in one day!!!

this is my version of tim's tag for day 5

i had time this afternoon to finish these off

as has been the norm i have made 3 cards [i just cut off the top of the tags] and mounted them.
ribbons and tiny pearls a bit fiddly for my stubby fingers but a great technique!

12 tags day 4

this is my version of tim's tag for day 4, again made into 3 cards.
i had trouble with the crackle -- i used too much on damp paint and it all peeled off so had to do all the snowmen again!
i dont have the 25 movers/shapers die so used the 25 from the 'noel' set, stamped them with music stamp and covered with glossy accents ... i think it looks similiar enough!

12 tags day 3

this is my version of tim's tag for day 3, made into a card.

i didn't use the cool technique he used of turning the stamp around, but i think i will try it on a tag later.

this was again using the suitcase die as a base card on plain white card.  i used a little clear embossing powder on the stamped image before i embossed it, and spritzted it with biscotti perfect pearls to warm up the whiteness of the card a little.

12 tags day 2

this is my version of tim's tag for day 2

again i have translated it into a card

i made 3 of these, cutting the size of the card from the suitcase die.  I like to use that die for a base as it is uneven at the edges and just the right size.  [it is just short of 6 inches long but that was ok as the bottom edge is covered]

12 tags day 1

12 tags of christmas day 1
this is my version of tim's tag for day 1
i have made mine into greetings cards to use for my charity

i made 3 using different glitters; white, silver and gold.
instead of a tag i am using 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" manila card, which i use a lot as my card base.  I can use the entire embossing folder with that size.   colouring them with iced spruce ink first instead of using coloured card seemed to work out quite well.
i might make the designs as a tag at some point because i like to keep them as technique references!

Christmas Emporium Graphic 45

first off a HUUUUUGE THANK YOU to the gorgeous Dyan Reavely for sending me a winning prize of a set of her fabulous stamps!!!!!
i absolutely love them .... i promise to dip my toes into 'your world' soon Dyan!!

******

ok .... i have actually made something that was NOT t!m designed!! LOL!

i had a bit of a break for a week or so as i got a bit of craft-block, and have been fighting off man-flu!!

i recently stumbled across Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium papers and fell for them immediately!!
so i ordered the 8x8 pad and chipboard tags 1 and set about making some cards!!

the first 2 of the designs below were published on their site, and as this was new territory to me i tried my version of them as best as i could;

tying ribbon bows is not my favourite thing in the world!!

.........so i got a bit of confidence - finding my 'decorative' side and spent a few hours over the past few days playing with the papers and came up with these:
[i couldnt resist adding a little bit of distressing and tim's vintage lace -- my latest favourite!]

christmas already???!!!

i just received tim's xmas embossing folder and xmas strip die today ....
i had a few images ready stamped, and i have been asked by my charity friends to make them some cards for an event in november so i had a quick bash at a few cards this afternoon ;

stamped background with perfect pearl spray
and festive die cuts

stamped bacground covered in clear embossing powder
festive greenery added

crackle stamped onto blue di background,
stamped over with clear perfect medium with white
embossing powder over the top,
then run through embossing folder

crackle stamp, music and angel in clear perfect medium with heirloom gold perfect pearl dusted over the top,
phrase embossed with black sparckle powder

i'm loving the stamped/embossed look, which i used a lot on my halloween cards

hope you like them --- lots more to be made!!!

sad news -- my REPLACEMENT vagabond has also bitten the dust!!!!!!!
i've been told by the person dealing with me that a lot of uk machines have been breaking down ... might be a problem with making the motor work on uk current!
hoping machine 3 will arrive soon!!

vagabond problems??

i just wanted to post a question if anyone can help ... i recently had to have my vagabond replaced as it broke down ... it has worked fine until this afternoon when i tried to cut something ..... no motor!!! just a pathetic grunt!
has anyone else had any problems like this??
i dont consider that it has been 'over-used'; maybe 20/30 times only.

i'm not a happy bunny!!!!!

[edit] --- i have done some googling and found that quite a lot of people have had problems with their vagabonds dying!! [craft forum discussions abound!] not very impressed!!
also i posted the question on tim's blog and it was removed almost immediately!!
i think there is a big problem with uk vagabonds breaking down!!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

glamour-boo!

i recently bought a set of the new sizzix 'framelit' dies ['tickets' 5 dies in sizes from 1 1/4"x 1 7/8" to 3" x 4 1/2" ] .... these are brilliant for cutting out phrases/messages etc that you have printed on the pc -- they are so easy to use and i've used them to make great insert messages for my cards.   recommended.
