100th blog post!!

well i just saw that this will be my 100th post on my blog!!
and i now have 50 followers so a big thank you to you all for your perseverance!!

among my latest purchases was the mini globe mover and shaper die, so i used a sample i made for tim's chemistry class as the base and added a small tag with letters from the wordplay die and some tickets.
the base kraft card was stamped and clear embossed with random postcard stamps.
(i'm not 100% happy with the layout but its stuck down now! lol)

a 'just for someone special' card

i was asked by a friend at my gym to make a card for his wife, Han, so i used a design i previously used for mother's day and made him a similar card.

the flowers are from the mini tattered floral strip die using pink and blue whitewash coredinations card and some distress inking.
the background is a card from Once Upon a Time paper stash under a piece of mountboard covered in musical tissue tape which was washed over with white, pearl and peri dabber then i stamped the horologie background in vermillion archival and dabbed off the excess when wet.  after heat setting it i put it through a large cuttlebug script folder, and swiped the raised text with grey stazon ink.  i edged it with platinum stickles.
the name plate is written with the upon a time strip die and infilled with sepia glossy accents.
because of the dimension i am giving this in a box.

vintage typewriter

these new tim holtz dies are fantastic!!

today i had a play with the vintage typewriter
i cut it out of mount board and painted it black with dabber.  the space-bar and upper piece comes out so i painted them silver as the levers on either end.  the keys themselves drop out, so i backed the piece onto a piece of card and filled in the keys roughly with white enamel accents, and edged the whole thing with white posca pen.
i used a pice of vellum and stamped the message on it and punched the top with an ek success punch.
the background is cosmo cricket 'garbo' paper and a piece of kraft card stamped with typewriter keys [sam poole stamp set, as is the message.] edges distressed with vinatge photo and walnut stain.  then i used tim's new rivet embossing folder;  using a technique from his new book i coloured it with black and ginger alcohol ink then rubbed it off with wire wool.
the cogs are laser cut mdf i found on ebay.
i added the word 'love' to jump rings [fab technique used by tracy evans! who is a genius!! thanx hun!]

tick tock

ok i've been eagerly waiting for the latest batch of tim's dies to be released and was happy i received them this morning!
not had too much time to play but this card was simple and quick to put together, using the clock die, cargo numbers, inside out alphabet [which i like a lot more than expected!] and the metal plate embossing folder.

the design is inspired by cards i saw at the birmingham nec exhibition.

cc101 day 6

this is my version of the samples in tim's creative chemistry online class for day 6 using distress markers on watercolour paper and speciality stamping paper.
i need to practice more with the markers to improve these techniques but i love them anyway!  specially direct to stamp colouring which gives a beautiful effect.

i still have a few more days to catch up on!

steampunk umberella man

i have been working on this a couple of days ....
the background is faux metal plating as shown in tims compendium 2
i added some spellbinders cogs, and umberella man was cut from tissue tape covered board.  [originally i added clear rock candy crackle paint to him --- but it all fell off when it dried!  so i learned that you cannot add crackle paint direct to tissue tape!]
i added an umberella of honeycomb paper.
sentiment is embossed with enamelware powder over black ink.
this card has some dimension as i used foam tape to stick down the background and man.
here is another view;

i bought some card boxes so that any extra dimensional cards can be safely posted!
